FL-2100Z Linear Amplifier

SOLD listed on eBay as Item: 3088960703 SOLD

The YAESU FL-2100Z is a compact desktop linear amplifier the was originally designed for the YAESU FT-101 and FT-901 series of HF transceivers. The amplifier uses two 572B transmitting triodes in a Class AB grounded grid configuration. This particular model operates on the 160 through 10 meter bands -- excluding the WARC bands. There was another version of the FL-2100Z that did include the WARC bands.

I am the third owner of this amplifier. The previous owner told me the amplifier was originally purchased by a USA military person who was stationed overseas. That may explain the lack of WARC bands on this particular export model.

During the time I have owned the amplifier, it has undergone a few upgrades / repairs. Some changes were to fix operational problems, others were to fix design flaws. Like other amps using a pair of 572B's, you can expect (on most bands), about 550 to 600 watts out on SSB with about 60 to 65 watts of drive at approximately 0.4 amperes of plate current. I have never used the amp on CW. I have on the other hand always used the amplifier wired for operation on 220Vac, but it can easily be operated on 110Vac. In fact the original factory 110Vac 3-prong plug is still on the power cord -- I just made an extension cord with a 220Vac plug termination that connected to the factory plug.

In terms of changes / upgrades, the amplifier has a new rebuilt band switch and the Rich Measures, AG6K Low VHF-Q parasitic suppressor retrofit-kit has been installed. Other internal changes were minor housekeeping fixes along the way to improve reliability.  All modifications were done by a well-known electronics technician that has been a licensed ham radio operator for years.

The amplifier has a new set of Chinese 572B's -- they were purchased from Roy at Radio Electric Supply in Gainesville, FL. These tubes have been used for approximately 20 hours.

The images that follow show the amplifier for exactly what it is -- a 25+ year old small desktop unit capable of giving many more years of reliable service. Cosmetically it's very clean with only a few minor nicks and electrically it's a solid performer.

Now the disclosure stuff --- this amplifier will not be DOA. It is in operating condition but is sold as is with no warranty expressed or implied. It is in use at my station. I will include the original operating manual, schematics and collected documentation. Do not expect the stated output power on every band -- output will vary slightly from band-to-band. If you don't like the advertised price, make me a reasonable offer. If you're not a licensed amateur radio operator (in other words I expect to find you listed at QRZ.com, Buckmaster, in the FCC database or in the RAC - IC database) don't bother contacting me -- you aren't entitled to operate this amplifier -- even if you can pay for it; I will not sell to you. And finally, the amplifier will be shipped double-boxed when your money arrives (including the cost of shipping). I will not ship to a post office  box address.
