Q1. What will the wx likely be during the Convention?

Typically our mid-summer weather is not unlike that of other cities on the West Coast of North America. You can expect daytime temperatures in the 20 to 26 degree Celsius range -- or about 68 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Given our close proximity to the Pacific Ocean, there is the possibility of rain in summer months -- but you'll be inside so who cares. UP

Q2. How can I register for the Convention?

Go to the Registration page and follow the simple instructions. UP

Q3. Will there be a (non-ham) spousal activity program during the Convention?

At this point we have not planned any bus trips, tours or (non-ham) spousal events. If there was an expression of interest to do so, the organizing committee would consider the opportunity and advise all interested parties in advance of the Convention. UP

Q4. Is the area surrounding the hotel a safe environment?

Surrounding the Convention hotel is a major shopping complex compete with restaurants, theatres and enclosed access to the elevated rapid transit system. Our visitors should feel safe in their environment and take all the usual precautions you would exercise in your own home town. Unfortunately like other cities, Vancouver does have some folks that aren't likely to be nominated for the citizen-of-the-year award. UP

Q5. Will there be a DXCC card checking opportunity?

We are working on this process and would like to offer the service to our visitors. If you'd like to have cards checked at DX2006, please contact the Dave, VE7VR the Convention Co-Chair. In so doing, we'll have a better idea of the demand for the program and be able to plan accordingly. You can also refer back to our DXCC webpage for updates. UP  (If we have enough people wanting cards checked, we will provide this service)

Q6. I am a supplier, how can I show my goods at the Convention?

If as a supplier of goods and services to the ham radio community you or your company would like booth space at DX2006, please contact Dave, VE7VR the Convention Co-Chair for details and or costs related to space available. UP

Q7. I would like to make a presentation, who do I contact?

First off thanks for considering the notion of sharing your knowledge with our audience. In terms of the mechanics of submitting a presentation proposal, please contact Paul, VE7BZ by email with an outline of the topic you'd like to present. The Planning Committee for DX2006 review all the presentation proposals and will advise presenters by email. UP

Q8. What is the theme of DX2006?

DX2006 is all about DX -- plain and simple! If it has to do with DX, smells like DX, looks like DX or sounds like DX you can bet it will be on our Agenda. We are all about DX and intend to surprise you with the lengths we'll go to in living up to that statement!  UP

Q9. Will there be Internet access available during the Convention?

The entire hotel is wired for high-speed Internet access. In addition, there will be a laptop computer  available for use during the hours the Hospitality Suite is open. UP
