Carl, K9LA
(aka Mr. Propagation)HF Propagation: Where We Are, Where We're Headed, and What's Out There to Help Us Carl will review where we are in Cycle 23, and then follow up with a summary of the early predictions for Cycle 24. Next he will review HF propagation prediction programs, including a brief analysis of the accuracy of two free programs - W6ELProp and HF Prop. Finally, as a bonus topic, Carl will take a look at the 75m VE7-to-EU long path. Background: Carl was first licensed in 1961. He received his MSEE degree from Purdue in 1972, and his amateur radio interests include propagation, contesting, DXing, and antennas. Carl and his wife Vicky AE9YL enjoy the other side of a DX pile-up, too – they have operated from ZF many times, from YK9A in February 2001, and from OJ0 in July 2002. Carl writes propagation columns for Worldradio and NCJ (National Contest Journal), and he currently serves as Editor for NCJ. |

Bob, W7YAQ
South Pacific Tour 2006: This presentation describes the month-long
trip Bob W7YAQ and Bill N7OU took to 3 island groups in the South
Pacific. The first stop was Rarotonga in the South Cook Islands (ZK1YAQ
and ZK1NOU), followed by Fiji (3D2NB and 3D2OU), and finally Rotuma (3D2RX
and 3D2RO). Although sharing the same wonderful tropical climate, we’ll
show how each QTH was unique from a physical, cultural, and DX
perspective. |
